Defence and space technology company Voyager Technologies (NYSE:VOYG) said on Tuesday that it has signed a contract with the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space to manage Symphony Biosciences' cancer research experiment aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
The mission will test SymphNode, a biopolymer implant designed to restore immune responses and train a patient's T cells to attack tumours.
Under the contract, Voyager will adapt the experiment's sample hardware, manage NASA safety reviews, and oversee launch integration and stowage. Its mission managers will support on-orbit activities, including incubation and fluorescence readings, and assist astronauts with the experiment.
Following the study, Voyager will return samples and data and provide post-flight and close-out reporting. The research aims to replicate Earth-based studies involving human T cells and tumour cells to assess the effectiveness of immune cells trained using SymphNode.
Voyager said its mission management services address demand for low-Earth orbit access for biopharmaceutical research, building on two decades of flight experience across more than 1,400 missions.
