Medicine company Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) revealed on Wednesday that it has achieved positive 48-week Phase 2b results for EloraTZP, its investigational combination of eloralintide and tirzepatide, showing greater weight loss and A1C reduction than tirzepatide 15 mg in adults with obesity or overweight and type 2 diabetes.

Participants receiving the highest EloraTZP combination lost an average 23.3% of body weight, or 54.1 lbs, compared with 14.8%, or 34.4 lbs, with tirzepatide 15 mg. Average A1C reductions were 2.9% and 2.4%, respectively.

The most common adverse events were generally mild to moderate gastrointestinal effects, occurring mainly during dose escalation. Lilly plans to initiate Phase 3 trials of an EloraTZP co-formulation by the end of 2026 using an optimised escalation schedule.
