Japanese healthcare company Daiichi Sankyo Co Ltd (TYO:4568) said on Friday that new analyses from the multinational MILOS study demonstrate the real-world impact of bempedoic acid, used alone or in combination with ezetimibe, in managing dyslipidemia and cardiovascular risk.
Among 960 at-risk patients, one year of bempedoic acid add-on therapy was estimated to translate into a 17.1% relative and 4.8% absolute reduction in predicted 10-year risk of a major cardiovascular event. Real-world data also showed mean reductions in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) of at least 24.9% after one year, regardless of diabetes status, pre-diabetes, normoglycemia or sex.
The treatment delivered a 31% relative LDL-C reduction in women and 25% in men, and increased the proportion of patients reaching LDL-C goals within one year.
These findings, presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress 2026 in Munich, reinforce the clinical value of bempedoic acid-based therapies in routine practice.
MILOS is an ongoing multinational European observational study evaluating the real-world use of bempedoic acid and the fixed-dose combination of bempedoic acid and ezetimibe in adults with primary hypercholesterolaemia or mixed dyslipidemia.
