Medical device company Insulet Corporation (NASDAQ:PODD) announced on Monday the launch of its Omnipod 5 Automated Insulin Delivery System and Omnipod Discover data platform in Spain, marking its 26th country of commercialisation and the 20th market for Omnipod 5.
This expansion supports the company's global growth strategy in tubeless insulin pump technology.
Omnipod 5 automatically adjusts insulin every five minutes and is designed to improve glycaemic outcomes, including time in range and HbA1c reduction, while reducing the need for multiple daily injections. In Spain, the system is indicated for individuals aged two years and older with type 1 diabetes and is compatible with Abbott FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus and Dexcom G7 continuous glucose monitoring systems.
Omnipod Discover is a web-based analytics platform that converts diabetes data into actionable insights for users, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. It aims to support more personalised diabetes management by simplifying data interpretation and highlighting trends for clinical decision-making.
