Thor Medical ASA (OSE:TRMED), a supplier of alpha-emitters for precision cancer treatment, said on Tuesday that it has signed a three-year supply agreement with Medicines Discovery Catapult (MDC) to support the development of radiopharmaceutical therapies in the UK, with initial shipments already completed.
Under the agreement, Thor Medical will supply radium-224 (Ra-224) and lead-212 (Pb-212) from its industrial-scale AlphaOne facility, supporting MDC's programmes focused on developing therapies based on the two isotopes.
The agreement comes amid growing investment in the development, manufacturing and clinical translation of precision radiopharmaceutical medicines, where reliable isotope supplies are critical to research and development.
MDC is also contributing to long-term UK supply chain development through an GBP18.8m consortium led by the United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory and MDC, with partial funding from Innovate UK's Sustainable Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Programme. This initiative aims to establish a domestic Pb-212 supply chain ecosystem.
The partnership combines near-term isotope access for radiopharmaceutical development programmes with broader efforts to strengthen the UK's long-term supply capabilities.
