Swedish pharmaceutical company Moberg Pharma AB (STO: MOB) on Tuesday said the United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted a patent covering an improved dosing regimen for MOB-015, its topical treatment for onychomycosis.
The patent adds to Moberg Pharma's intellectual property portfolio and is projected to expire in December 2041. It is based on clinical data from studies supporting the European approval of MOB-015 and the company's most recent Phase 3 trial in North America.
The United States is the first market to grant a patent application related to the revised dosing approach. Moberg Pharma has also filed patent applications for the dosing regimen in other markets, where they remain under examination.
Moberg Pharma holds all rights to MOB-015 in the United States and plans an additional Phase 3 study to support a future Food and Drug Administration approval.
MOB-015 is approved in 14 countries and is marketed as Terclara in Sweden and Norway. Moberg Pharma is preparing a broader international rollout, including launches with Karo Healthcare under the Lamisil brand.
