KDventures portfolio company Modus Therapeutics pauses Phase 2a trial enrolment, delays expected readout
15 October 2026 -

KDventures AB (STO:KDV), a Nordic investment company focused on life sciences, disclosed on Thursday that portfolio company Modus Therapeutics has temporarily paused enrolment in Part 2 of its Phase 2a study evaluating sevuparin in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) with anemia, following a serious adverse event reported to regulators as a suspected unexpected serious adverse reaction (SUSAR).

This precautionary pause followed a review with the study's safety committee and was initiated voluntarily by Modus Therapeutics, not in response to a regulatory decision. A SUSAR classification means that a causal relationship with the study drug cannot be excluded but has not been established.

The company expects the pause to shift the study's proof-of-concept readout from around the turn of the year 2026/2027 to the first quarter of 2027. No other patients were receiving treatment when the decision was made, and no ongoing treatment needed to be discontinued.

Modus Therapeutics is reviewing available data with study investigators and the safety committee to assess causality and determine next steps, with further timeline updates expected after the assessment is completed.

KDventures holds a 51% stake in Modus Therapeutics.
