Biopharmaceutical company Faron Pharmaceuticals Ltd (AIM: FARN) (First North: FARON) on Monday reported its first overall survival data from treatment-naïve higher-risk myelodysplastic syndrome patients enrolled in the Phase 1/2 BEXMAB trial of bexmarilimab combined with azacitidine. After a median follow-up of 14.9 months, median overall survival has not yet been reached in patients without TP53 mutations or in those with monoallelic TP53 mutations, while patients with biallelic TP53 mutations achieved a median overall survival of 8.8 months, consistent with historical outcomes for this high-risk group.
The trial enrolled 21 treatment-naïve higher-risk myelodysplastic syndrome patients, with 48% carrying TP53 mutations. Among those with known allele frequency data, 33% had monoallelic TP53 mutations and 67% had biallelic TP53 mutations.
Faron said survival follow-up is continuing, with several patients remaining alive and under observation, allowing the dataset to mature further over time.
