22 September 2021 -

The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stated that the United States had administered 386,780,816 COVID-19 vaccine doses as of Tuesday morning and distributed 467,249,715 doses, Reuters news agency reported on Wednesday.

This is an increase over 386,237,881 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered as of 20 September 2021.

According to the CDC, 212,255,202 people had received at least one COVID-19 dose, while 182,012,343 people were fully vaccinated as of Tuesday morning.

These figures includes two-dose vaccines from US pharmaceutical companies Moderna (Nasdaq:MRNA) and Pfizer (NYSE:PFE)/BioNTech (Nasdaq:BNTX), as well as Johnson & Johnson's (NYSE:JNJ) one-shot vaccine.

Also, about 2.24 million people have received an additional dose of either Pfizer or Moderna's vaccine since 13 August 2021, when the US authorised a third dose for those with compromised immune systems who are likely to have weaker protection from the two-dose regimens.
