The World Health Organization issued a warning on Thursday about fake drugs claiming to contain the active ingredient found in Novo Nordisk's (NOVOb.CO) diabetes drug, Ozempic, and weight-loss treatment, Wegovy.
The fake copies are exploiting recent surging demand for the product.
WHO said that three falsified batches of Semaglutide were detected in Brazil and the UK in October 2023. A similar duplicate copy was detected in the US in December 2023.
