Philippines' food and drug agency approves emergency use of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine

The food and drug agency of Philippines has approved the emergency use of US pharmaceutical company Moderna Inc's (Nasdaq:MRNA) COVID-19 vaccine, Reuters news agency reported on Wednesday.

The Food and Drug Administration chief said during an online forum that the known and potential benefits of Moderna outweighed the known and potential risks, adding it would be administered to individuals aged 18 and above.

Reportedly, the Philippines expects the delivery of 194,000 doses of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine this month.

This is the seventh COVID-19 vaccine to be approved for emergency use in the Philippines, Reuters added.
