US pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc (NYSE:PFE) has applied to the Japanese government for approval of its oral COVID-19 treatment, Reuters news agency reported on Friday.
Pfizer said in a statement that this application is based on global Phase II/III trials that Japan was part of.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had said last week he aimed to distribute the Pfizer pills next month after securing two million doses, Reuters noted.
