The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), a not-for-profit organisation managing certification of physicians and medical specialists in the US, announced on Tuesday that it has elected new members of the board of directors at the October ABMS board of directors meeting.

J. Brantley Thrasher, MD, FACS, executive director of the American Board of Urology, has been appointed as the chair-elect for the ABMS board of directors. Dr Thrasher has served on the ABMS Board since 2019.

The company has also added Mary (Mimi) S Newell, MD, FACR, FSBI and Amy E Young, MD to the board. Newell has served as associate executive director for Diagnostic Radiology at the American Board of Radiology. Young has worked as executive director of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
