Periodontal disease company Millennium Dental Technologies Inc reported on Thursday the receipt of the US patent for the LANAP protocol with the PerioLase MVP-7 dental laser for the minimally-invasive surgical treatment of gum disease and periodontitis.
The US Patent, which has been assigned the No. 9,943,379, has been issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
In 2016, the LANAP protocol was awarded the world's first US FDA clearance for True Periodontal Regeneration--regenerating alveolar bone, periodontal ligaments and cementum on a diseased root surface. The PerioLase MVP-7 is the only US FDA cleared device for True Regeneration with the LANAP protocol.
This groundbreaking clearance remains the only US FDA clearance for full mouth True Periodontal Regeneration that is evidence-based and scientifically validated with human histology.
According to the company, the LANAP protocol is unique within the field of periodontal treatment and has increasingly become the preferred option due to predictable successful results and positive patient experience.
