Equitas Health awarded US HHS' FQHC Look-Alike designation
11 January 2018 -

LGBTQ healthcare company Equitas Health stated on Wednesday that it has passed the US Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS), the first for an LGBTQ & HIV/AIDS-focused health centre in Ohio, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Look-Alike designation.

The FQHC Look-Alike designation applies to the company's Short North and Dayton Health Centres.

According to the company, FQHC Look-Alike's must serve an underserved area or population, offer a sliding fee scale, provide comprehensive services and have both an ongoing quality assurance programme and a governing board of directors, according to HHS.

This expanded mission and new Look-Alike status name reflects the company's transition into a community-based healthcare system specialising in LGBTQ health & HIV care and a focus on medically underserved populations. Look-Alike status not only recognises the success of its healthcare delivery model, but will help increase its ability to address the healthcare needs of the most marginalised and vulnerable populations.

In addition, Equitas Health's services include primary care, retail pharmacy, dental, behavioural health, chronic disease management, specialised LGBTQ care, case management, specialised Hepatitis C, HIV and STD care & treatment, referrals to specialists, laboratory services, insurance enrolment, supportive services and more.
