TB Alliance appoints Dr Ariel Pablos-Méndez to board

TB Alliance, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to finding faster-acting and affordable drug regimens to fight tuberculosis (TB), revealed on Monday the addition of Ariel Pablos-Méndez MD to its board of directors.

Currently, Dr Pablos-Méndez is a professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.

Previously Dr Pablos-Méndez led the Global Health programme of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), led the Global Financing Facility for Every Woman Every Child, participated in the US response to Ebola and Zika as well as championed the Global Virome Project from the period 2011 to 2016.

Dr Pablos-Méndez was also part of Columbia University's multi-drug resistant tuberculosis in New York City, led the Global Surveillance Project on Anti-Tuberculosis Drug Resistance at the World Health Organisation (WHO) as well as spearheaded public-private partnerships in R&D for TB Alliance and AIDS in Africa.

Earlier in his career, Dr Pablos-Méndez was a managing director at Rockefeller, leading the foundation's initiative to position universal health coverage on the international agenda as well as a faculty member for over 20 years at the Public Health from Columbia University,
