Clinical Computer Systems Inc enters into maternal health distribution agreement with ObsteCare
10 June 2019 -

Perinatal system company Clinical Computer Systems Inc (CCSI) revealed on Friday the launch of an agreement in the US with the Swedish company ObsteCare AB for the launch of the latter's perinatal product in the US.

Pending US FDA 510K clearance, ObsteCare AB's new product will be introduced in North America to help address some of the challenges around maternal health during labour and delivery.

The company added that the ObsteCare product measures amniotic fluid lactate (AFL) levels that offers clinicians the necessary information to help guide labour management during prolonged and/or dysfunctional labour. Measuring AFL during labour may help decrease cesarean sections, help individualise the use of oxytocin based on lactate levels as well as reduce postpartum complications.

Almost 40% of all women giving birth for the first time will experience prolonged labour, which puts pressure not only on the foetus and mother but also the clinicians involved. Assessing AFL during labour provides clinicians the needed information to make the best decision on how to proceed in the safest way for both mother and baby.
