Pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim announced on Wednesday the availability of the new Quarterable Snap-Tab design for PREVICOX (firocoxib) Chewable Tablets for dogs, following approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The new tablet design is double scored to enable easier division of the tablet into quarters, assisting with customisable dosing for a broader range of dogs based on weight. The new scoring design helps veterinarians to prescribe lower dosages for dogs as small as seven pounds, and more dosage options using the new quarterable 57 mg and 227 mg chewable tablets.
PREVICOX (firocoxib), a COX-2 selective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), is approved for the control of pain and inflammation related with osteoarthritis in dogs, and for the control of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft-tissue and orthopaedic surgery.
