Elsevier publishes English version of Chinese-authored reference book 'COVID-19: The Essentials of Prevention and Treatment'

Research publishing and information analytics provider Elsevier announced on Tuesday that it released the English version of COVID-19: The Essentials of Prevention and Treatment by three co-editors, Jie-Ming QU, Bin CAO and Rong-Chang CHEN.

A digital version of the book is also available to download on Elsevier's Novel Coronavirus Information Center, which provides expert-curated information for researchers, healthcare professionals and public health officials, including clinical guidance and a portal to access all of Elsevier's COVID-19 research. These resources are freely available and the company also has dedicated hubs for healthcare professionals; health educators and students; librarians; and R&D professionals.

COVID-19: The Essentials of Prevention and Treatment was originally published in Chinese by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press. The three co-editors-in-chief are senior physicians, as well as clinical and scientific research experts specializing in pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine with relevant experience in Wuhan, China, where the COVID-19 outbreak was first identified in a year ago.

Elsevier said the the co-editors-in-chief have worked with other physicians in China to build deep knowledge and insights on the prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment of the disease, all of which are now globally relevant to managing the COVID-19 pandemic.

The book elaborates on the ethology, pathogenesis epidemiology, clinical characteristics, treatment principles, rehabilitation and prevention, as well as prevention and control measures for COVID-19 to provide healthcare workers first-hand information on the prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.
