Moberg Pharma reports new Phase 3 analyses on terbinafine activity in onychomycosis
5 October 2026 -

Swedish pharmaceutical company Moberg Pharma AB (STO: MOB) on Monday announced that it has published new analyses showing potent antifungal activity of terbinafine against dermatophytes causing onychomycosis.

The company said its topical onychomycosis treatment MOB-015 achieved mycological cure across the full range of baseline terbinafine susceptibility, including in patients with reduced in vitro susceptibility. MOB-015 has market approval in 14 countries and is sold in Sweden, Norway and Israel.

Moberg Pharma's findings are based on the completed North American Phase 3 study of daily MOB-015 treatment over 48 weeks, covering 506 dermatophyte isolates. Only 3.2% of baseline isolates showed elevated MIC values of at least 0.5 µg/ml. Among MOB-015-treated patients with evaluable end-of-study results, 74.3% achieved mycological cure, including two of three patients with elevated baseline MIC values.

The analyses were conducted with Professor Mahmoud Ghannoum at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. The article, In Vitro Terbinafine Susceptibility of Dermatophytes and Mycological Cure Outcomes from a Multicenter Phase III Onychomycosis Trial, appears in Journal of Fungi (2026, 12(10), 739).
