BioArctic and Eli Lilly enter BrainTransporter collaboration with up to USD800m in milestone payments
22 June 2026 -

Swedish research-based biopharmaceutical company BioArctic AB (publ) (NASDAQ STOCKHOLM: BIOA B) reported on Monday that it has entered into a research and collaboration agreement with US pharmaceutical firm Eli Lilly and Company to develop a potential neurodegeneration treatment combining BioArctic's BrainTransporter technology with a Lilly proprietary drug candidate.

Under the terms of the agreement, BioArctic will receive an upfront payment of USD30m and is eligible for up to USD770m in milestone payments, alongside tiered mid-single digit royalties on future global sales should the product reach the market.

The collaboration will see BioArctic generate a novel drug candidate incorporating its BrainTransporter platform, while Eli Lilly assumes full responsibility for global development and commercialisation.

This marks the fourth collaboration using BioArctic's BrainTransporter technology, which is designed to enhance drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier via the transferrin receptor, with applications across multiple therapeutic areas in neurodegenerative disease.

BioArctic retains rights to the platform outside the scope of its existing agreements, maintaining potential for additional future partnerships in biologics and brain-targeted therapies.
