United States-based Varian (NYSE: VAR) announced yesterday that it has named Dr Ricky Sharma as its new vice president of Clinical Affairs.
In this role he will be leading medical research, translational science and clinical trials for the company's growing oncology business. Dr Sharma will report directly to Dee Khuntia, MD, chief medical officer and senior vice president of Medical Affairs.
Prior to joining Varian, Dr Sharma was the chair of Radiation Oncology at University College London, UK, where he will continue as an honorary clinical professor. He is also a visiting professor at several universities in other countries.
