7 September 2017 -

Hyundai Hope On Wheels Wednesday announced a USD150,000 Hyundai Young Investigator Grant in favour of UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital in support of the research of principal investigator Dr. Steven J. Jonas with the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital during National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month of September.

The company stated the USD150,000 Hyundai Young Investigator Grant will be officially presented to Dr Jonas on 6 September 2017 at 14:00. The doctors and researchers that receive a grant from Hope On Wheels are named Hyundai Scholars and are presented with a special lab coat.

Following this latest grant, Hope On Wheels has awarded more than USD925,000 to UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital.

At the event, Greater Los Angeles Area children battling cancer will participate in the programme's signature Handprint Ceremony, in which they'll dip their hands in paint and place their handprints on a white 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. Their colorful handprints on the official Hope Vehicle represent their individual and collective journeys, hopes and dreams. The Hope On Wheels September campaign theme is 'Every Handprint Tells A Story.'

Launched in 1998, Hyundai Hope On Wheels is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation that is committed to finding a cure for childhood cancer. It provides grants to eligible institutions nationwide that are pursuing life-saving research and innovative treatments for the disease. Since its inception, it has awarded more than USD130m towards childhood cancer research in pursuit of a cure.
