Meant Health, a digital health platform that connects patients with licensed clinicians for evaluation, prescription and ongoing care coaching, announced on Saturday that it is expanding telehealth access to FDA-approved GLP-1 medications.
The aim is to shorten the distance between someone wondering whether a treatment might be right for them, and an actual conversation with a US-licensed clinician who could review their history and make that call.
As more people look for a straightforward way to access Ozempic, Meant Health says it is expanding its telehealth platform to connect patients with licensed clinicians for evaluation and prescription. It starts with an intake questionnaire that walks through health history, current medications and what the patient is hoping to address. A licensed clinician then reviews that information and decides, case by case, whether a prescription makes sense.
Ozempic is FDA-approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes; when it's prescribed for weight management, that use is off-label and remains entirely at the clinician's discretion. Patients who do receive a prescription are paired with ongoing care coaching, providing a steady point of contact as their plan unfolds rather than a one-time appointment.
